Additional Info

Hello, S-1088 Members!

You are receiving this e-mail because you are listed as a member of the S-1088 Multi-State Research Project (Specialty Crops and Food Systems: Exploring Markets, Supply Chains and Policy Dimensions). I hope you are having a safe and relaxing summer.

Please mark your calendars for a hybrid gathering of the S-1088 Multi-State Research group on Sunday, October 17, which has now been officially authorized!

Per usual, this meeting will occur during the Food Distribution Research Society (FDRS) Annual Meeting, which is being held in conjunction with the National Direct Agricultural Marketing Summit (or AgSummit, for short). The AgSummit will be held in-person this year in Grapevine, TX (Dallas/Fort Worth area).

Information about registering for the AgSummit can be found here. We encourage S-1088 attendees to submit an abstract for the FDRS portion of the meeting. The deadline for abstract submissions is coming up on July 31! Please see the call for submissions here (and note this call for submissions at this link is different from the call posted on the AgSummit site, as multiple organizations are participating in the summit).

Our S-1088 meeting will be held Sunday, October 17, 11 AM-2 PM CDT.

There will be two attendance options for our S-1088 Meeting: in-person or virtual.

In-person/3D option
For those attending the AgSummit, please plan to attend the S-1088 meeting in person. The meeting will be held from 11 AM-2 PM local time in meeting room Becker II. The timing is planned around other AgSummit events and to accommodate virtual attendees on both coasts. Lunch will not be provided, but please feel free to bring food with you and eat during the meeting, as we recognize the timing overlaps with lunch. Please note, in-person attendees for the S-1088 meeting are required to register for the AgSummit conference, as the use of the meeting space is supported through conference registrations.

Virtual/2D option
We will also welcome virtual attendees to the S-1088 meeting via Zoom. Please register here to get the link to the Zoom meeting.

Finally, a quick note for those attending the AAEA Annual Meeting either virtually or in-person this coming week… our S-1088 members are doing some very cool stuff! Don’t miss our S-1088 track session (co-sponsored by FAMPS and SCE) entitled “Innovations in Specialty Crop Marketing and Distribution,” (2:45 PM CDT on Tuesday virtually and in Lone Star C) or Jill McCluskey’s Fellows Address (8:30 AM CDT on Tuesday virtually and in Lone Star D-E), as well the other many great sessions our members will be contributing to!

We look forward to seeing you in 2D or 3D in October. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!

Best,
Zoë Plakias
Chair-Elect, S-1088 Multi-State Research Project
