Statement of Issues and Justification

This advisory committee is composed of "Animal Science" department heads/chairs from the land-grant universities in the Northeastern Region of the United States. The committee serves as an informal advisory body for information exchange. The Advisory Committee's principle task is to facilitate the regional association's responsibilities for program development and evaluation, peer reviews of project proposals, and other aspects of science quality and relevance assurance that focus on the animal sciences.

Specifically, the committee's functions include:


  • Identifying emerging and critical research needs and opportunities;
  • Peer review of proposals related to animal science; and
  • Annual review of the existing project portfolio for their relevance, performance and provide guidance on future project directions.
