Brief Summary of Minutes

1. We conducted a in-person training with Illinois 4-H. General topics included 4-H inclusion best practices, housing and food disparitices, and family/youth support issues.


2. We shared our state projects and resources.


3. We planned next year's meeting, to be held in Hawaii. Hawaii will organize the extension outreach componentt.


4. We discussed collaborations for the coming project year.

Accomplishments

<p>1. Illinois received a 2-year grant to work with Illinois Extension on inclusion and climate. Baseline data has been collected, and five webinars were conducted. Data collection is ongoing.</p><br /> <p>2. Virginia and Hawaii received a small grant from Virginia Tech to study clothing and gender identity and well being.</p><br /> <p>3. Minnesota received an AES grant to continue measurement development and to continue studying suicide risk among transgender youth.</p><br /> <p>4. Minnesota&nbsp;traveled to&nbsp; Hawaii to collaborate on research and conduct 4-H training.&nbsp;Also met&nbsp;with the family development team to discuss&nbsp;research collaborations.</p><br /> <p>5. Arizona collaborated with Extension to develop best practice guidelines for 4-H when working with transgender and gender creative youth.</p><br /> <p>6. Arizona is working with community partner agencies to conduct training and provide evaluation services for programs serving gender and sexual minority youth.</p><br /> <p>7. Maryland is working on the Access, Equity, and Belonging initiative to develop and share best practice resources nationwide.</p><br /> <p>8. Maryland 4-H is collaborating with the Department of Family Science to disseminate evaluation materials into the peer-reviewed scientific literature.</p><br /> <p>9. California 4-H created a statewide Advisory Board for Inclusion and Affirmation.</p><br /> <p>10. California is leading the development of a toolkit for working with local government agencies and community partners to address food insecurity for LGBTQ+ community members.</p><br /> <p>11. New York received a small grant from the Human Ecology Alumni Association to research undergarment design for transgender individuals.</p><br /> <p>12. New York and Hawaii are collaborating with researchers at Iowa State University, Colorado State University, and Central Michigan University on a research study about chest binding.&nbsp;</p>
